Microdosing: it's one of the CBD industry’s latest trends.

Microdosing is defined by our friends at Merriam-Webster as the following:
“The action or practice of taking or administering very small amounts of a drug in order to test or benefit from its physiological action while minimizing undesirable side effects.”
In this case, thousands of people are applying the concept of microdosing to their CBD intake...and so far almost all of them are reporting truly macro results.
Why is that? What makes CBD so uniquely powerful even at only a few milligrams per hundred pounds of body weight? It's a good question...and in this article we'll do our very best to find out.
Microdosing has its roots in homeopathy, an alternative health framework which holds that small amounts of a natural substance can inspire one's body to produce much larger amounts of an internal version of that substance. For example, one might take several milligrams of desiccated thyroid to stimulate their own thyroid hormone production. Usually, such techniques work, and by going the natural route one is spared of ultra-high pharmaceutical doses and all the unintended side effects such drugs can come with.
As it so happens, CBDs activation of the endocannabinoid system is a prime example of homeopathic concepts at work. Just a few milligrams of CBD may stimulate the body to produce tangibly more endocannabinoids, which in turn can trigger brain growth lasting for months, even after that initial CBD dose is long gone.
One rodent study found that only three days of topical CBD use was enough to permanently rewire (well, at least months) brain chemistry away from drug addiction and towards mental health. Here are the findings, in researcher’s own terms:
“CBD attenuated context-induced and stress-induced drug seeking without tolerance, sedative effects, or interference with normal motivated behavior. Following treatment termination, reinstatement remained attenuated up to ≈5 months although plasma and brain CBD levels remained detectable only for 3 days.
CBD also reduced experimental anxiety and prevented the development of high impulsivity in rats with an alcohol dependence history.”
This effect is often called long-term potentiation (LTP). Through LTP memories are made, patterns are learned, and minds are enabled to function. According to a different study, CBD may boost LTP in humans, too:
“CBD attenuates cue-elicited and stress-elicited alcohol-seeking, alcohol self-administration, withdrawal-induced convulsions, and impulsive discounting of delayed rewards. In human studies, CBD was well tolerated and did not interact with the subjective effects of alcohol.”
Impressive, right? But the benefits of microdosing don’t merely stop with preventing addiction to opioids or alcohol. Things go much deeper that. Many users love microdosing CBD for its ability to:
